As the accessories list a DVI to VGA adapter, I assume this unit will work with a vga monitor.
Yes, this DVI switch will work for both VGA or DVI, though you would need to use the adapter. Many times servers/computers will not match and the adapter is a commonly used solution.

will this work for a dell pc & mac mini combo
Yes, this is a 2 port DVI USB 2.0 high-speed switch. As long as your target computers are USB and DVI then it will work. Sometimes Mac minis are HDMI, in that case you would just need to use a simple adapter.

Is there a downloadable manual?
Thank you for your inquiry. The quick install guide for the SwitchView DVI KVM can be found here: http://pcs.mktg.avocent.com/@@content/manual/590491501a.pdf.

If the information you require cannot be found in the quick install guide, you might be able to find it in one of the other SwitchView manuals. Additional manuals and quick install guides can be found here: http://www.emersonnetworkpower.com/en-US/Brands/Avocent/Resources/ManualsandTechBulletins/Pages/Default.aspx . Select "Switchview Switch" on the left side, under the "Product" heading, select a manual or quickstart guide on the left, select an appropriate language and then hit "submit".

Trying to connect wireless keyboard and mouse. Is this possible? Doesn't seem to want to work for me. Thanks, Bert
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, detailed product support is beyond the scope of this simple FAQ system.

That being said, here are some suggestions. The use of wireless keyboards and mice is very hit or miss when it comes to KVM switches. That is based on the very different way in which wired vs wireless peripherals communicate as well as any keyboard/mouse emulation performed by the switch. Whenever possible, we recommend the use of basic wired keyboards and mice for the best performance.

One big issue may revolve around a single "unifying" dongle. This particular switch is looking for separate mouse and keyboard signals. If a single dongle is used, the data may not pass through the switch as expected.

Another thing to try would be to use the USB hub on the switch. These attached "hubs" generally pass the data through transparently, without any emulation or changes to the signal. Please note however, if it does work, this will likely lead to a loss in functionality with OSD navigation and/or Hotkey switching.

A good source for additional troubleshooting is Avocent\'s support community found here: http://community.emerson.com/networkpower/support/avocent/.

Will any male DVI to female VGA adapter work, or does it need to be DVI-I?
Thank you for your inquiry,

The Avocent 2SVDVI10-001 can be adapted from Female DVI-I to Male HD15 VGA with the Avocent VAD28 adapter. Alternatively you can use any DVI-I to VGA adapter found on the video signal adapter page. The adapter does need a DVI-I connection; DVI-D to VGA passive adapter for example would not work.
