My computers have DVI connections. My monitors have the 15 pin VGA connections. My cables are DVI on one side and 15 pin VGA connections on the other side so they should work. I recently returned a StarTech switch that was Quad for two computers. The problem was when my computers went to sleep they would lose their connection with the switch. And sometimes they would lose connections for no appearent reason. Also my wireless keyboard and mouse would not work. Will this switch not lose connection when the computer goes to sleep?? Will wireless keyboard and mouse work??
Any connected computer can go into sleep mode and be awakened (when its channel is selected) as soon as you press a key or move the mouse. The computer and peripherals must support the USB Remote Wakeup feature. So the short answer is that the switch will not lose connection when the computer goes to sleep.

As for the wireless keyboard and mouse, this feature cannot be guaranteed. Sometimes wireless works and sometimes it does not. It is not something that the manufacturers test and rate their switches for, but we have seen success in switches with integrated USB 2.0 hubs such as this one. You stated that you were converting signals as well. Please note that this is not always supported by KVM either. As you convert, signals are deteriorated and are not always recognized. The less you can convert the better and it is best to keep the original signal into the KVM and convert out of it. i would like to use VGA Quad Monitor 4-Port USB KVM switch with Dell P4317Q which can display 4 CPUs in a single monitor. Is this doable ?

While the manufacturer does not specify support, and thus we are unable to guarantee compatibility, using the AV4PRO-VGA-Quad with the Dell P4317Q PIP monitor would be theoretically feasible. You would simply need to convert the output signals from the AV4PRO-VGA-QUAD to the monitor:
1x VGA - plug in VGA.
2x HDMI - convert VGA to HDMI with i.e. VGAA-HD-ULC.
1x DisplayPort - convert VGA to HDMI with i.e. VGAA-HD-ULC and then HDMI to DisplayPort with i.e. 54179.

Depending on what would be more convenient for your application, you could also use the AV4PRO-DVI-QUAD-US instead, with the following adapters:
1x VGA - DVI-I supports analog signals so you can just adapt it using DVI-I to VGA adapter i.e. VSA11
2x HDMI - Adapt DVI to HDMI with i.e. HDMIM-DVIDF or HDMIF-DVIDM - depending where you place the adapter (attached to end of cable / to monitor, or attached to the KVM before the cable, respectively)
1x MiniDP - Convert DVI to mDP with i.e. GTV-DVIDL-2-MDP

The monitor has a built in scaler that requires you to plug in 4 or 2 clients / inputs; as long as you have at least 2 active inputs that have the same resolution applied, the scaler shouldn\'t be an issue. The resolution also should not change when changing PIP modes, but if it does, the EDID emulator inside the AV4PRO should compensate (however, sometimes signal conversion does effect this abstractly).

Again due to the complexity of converting to multiple different signals, and lack of stated support, we cannot guarantee full compatibility / no loss in features.

I have 2 mini display port and 1 hdmi port out of this PC. Could I use a VGA adapter to connect?

The Adder AV4PRO-VGA-Quad should indeed work with video adapters for your application.

While adapter compatibility depends on the application a little bit, you should be able to use for example C2G 54300 Mini-DP to VGA adapters to support the 2x Mini-DP output, and a C2G 41350 HDMI to VGA adapter to support the 1x HDMI output.

Alternatively depending on your monitors video input and other sources video output, you may also be interested in the Adder AV4PRO-DVI-QUAD - same switch but based on digital DVI video. You can use for example NTI DPMM-DVIDF-CBL Mini-DP to DVI adapters to support the 2x Mini-DP output, and an Adder VSCD11 HDMI to DVI adapter to support the 1x HDMI output.
