I'm considering purchasing a Raritan KXII and using it for my rack of Dell Poweredge 1850 & 1950s. Do I only need the single USB port to support keyboard & video or would I need to get a CIM that has the two USB ports. I'm a little confused on the difference between the two.
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the single USB port on this Computer Interface Module will support both keyboard and mouse.

However, there are other considerations when selecting a CIM. For instance, this particular CIM will support virtual media (ability to connect remote storage devices).

If you would like further assistance in selecting the appropriate CIMs, please give us a call (toll free) at 1-877-586-6654.

Can this module be used independently of the Raritan KXII switch for one machine at a time?
Thank you for your inquiry. No, unfortunitly, this product requires the use of a Raritan KVM Switch to operate.

what does this particular D2CIM_VUSB do
Thank you for your inquiry. This computer interface module (CIM), also referred to as a KVM dongle or Computer Access Module (CAM), is used to attach a target computer to a Raritan KVM Switch such as the via CAT5/5e/6 cable. In addition to providing VGA and USB connections, this particular CIM will also provide virtual media support to allow the KVM to mount removable storage devices to the target computer.

I need to extend the USB port 150 feet away from my computer server and the direct USB cable length can only be extended to 30ft max. I was totld that Raritan KVM and its CIM could allow me to extend this USB port at such distance. Please advise on the component models and price quotes. Thanks.
Thank you for your inquiry. It is possible that a CATx style KVM using CIMs may reach out to 150 feet, but there may be better options depending on the requirements of your particular project/environment. Please contact a KVM Switches Online representative at 1-877-586-6654 or via our online chat feature to discuss your project in greater detail.

We have a few servers that still use USB 1.0. I wanted to make sure these were backwards compatible with USB 1.0 or if we will need to purchase the PS/2 version for the older machines.
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, USB 1.0 and 1.1 are not fully supported by this device.
